What is the Day View?
The Day View allows you to view the employee schedule in more detail for a specific day. While the week view provides an overview of the entire week, the Day View gives you a clearer picture of how shifts are distributed throughout the day.
You can easily see when employees start, how many employees start at the same time, and where potential gaps in staffing occur.
Opening the Day View
You can open the Day View from the week schedule by clicking the header of the day you want to view. The schedule for that specific day will then open in more detail.
To return to the week view, click the zoom-out button in the top-right corner of the sticky Total header.
Viewing and editing shifts
Scheduled shifts are displayed as horizontal bars, similar to a calendar view. You can sort shifts by start time to get a clear overview of how employees are scheduled throughout the day.
You can edit a shift in two ways:
- Single-click: Adjust the start and end times directly on the shift bar, just as you can in the week view.
- Double-click or press D: Opens the sidebar for the selected employee on that specific day.
Absences, such as leave, recurring leave, illness and holidays, are also displayed. They appear above the shifts they overlap with. Shifts that do not overlap with an absence can share the same row, keeping the schedule compact.
Absences can also be edited directly from this view.
Navigating and filtering
You can navigate horizontally between different days using the arrow buttons or by holding Shift while scrolling with your mouse wheel.
When there is a period of time between two days that is not displayed (for example, Monday ending at 21:00 and Tuesday starting at 06:00), a grey gap indicates the break between the days. This makes it easier to distinguish between days.
The existing filter and sorting options remain available, including filtering by department and sorting by multiple columns.
Available views and options
The Day View also supports the following features:
- Shop Schedule: Displays the schedule using the assigned colors, without distinguishing between departments.
- Shift Colors: Displays shifts using their assigned colors.
- Compact View: Displays shifts in a more compact layout, reducing the horizontal space required.
- Budget overview: Provides insight into how much of the available staffing budget is allocated across time slots.
Summary
The Day View provides a more detailed overview of the daily employee schedule. You can quickly see when employees are working, how many employees start at the same time, and where potential staffing gaps occur.
You can also edit shifts and absences directly, navigate between days, and use the familiar filters, sorting options and display settings.
